3D Ultrasound

The increasing availability of 3D ultrasound has resulted largely from the brisk advancement in computer technology. The aim of three-dimensional imaging is to eliminate invasive tests whenever possible and simplify workflow.

3D ultrasound scans are as safe as traditional ultrasound scanning because the image is composed of sections of two-dimensional images, so the ultrasound exposure is the same. In this procedure, several two-dimensional images are combined by specialized computer software to form three-dimensional images.

With three-dimensional imaging, sonologists can get the full picture in a single image. They can see the entire brain in one view instead of multiple images. Achieving comparable results with a routine 2D scan of the head requires at least three separate scans. In other scenarios, such as abdominal scans, it is not possible to obtain a third view with a routine scan. Three-dimensional imaging allows a physician to get a better look at the organ being examined and is best used for early detection of tumors, discovering masses in the colon and rectum, detecting breast lesions for possible biopsies, assessing the development of a fetus, and visualizing blood flow in various organs. Three-dimensional scans greatly aid in the diagnosis of problems by showing more detail from different angles.

Getting a good three-dimensional image depends on the aptitude of the operator, the position of the baby and the amount of fluid around him or her. A good image of the face, for example, can only be obtained if the baby is facing upwards, he does not have his hands in front of his face and there is a pool of amniotic fluid surrounding the features.

Also, pediatric sonologists are reaping a variety of benefits from improved technologies. Patient care has been enhanced via higher-quality images in 3D. Costs, too, have been reduced due to a need for fewer rescans.

Nintendo Wii - Get Off the Couch!

Every couple of years, something new hits the electronic scene that really changes the way things are done. A couple of years ago, the Nintendo Wii came out and it is one of the most impressive game systems that I have ever played. As a matter of fact, I stood in line outside of a Target Store overnight in the freezing cold just to make sure that I had one for myself. Since that time, I can hardly get anything done around the house because I spend all of my free time playing the game.

One of the reasons why the Nintendo Wii is so impressive is because it actually get you involved in the game, even physically at times. The controllers can be used to similarly to a regular game controller but in many instances they have the ability to mimic the movements on the screen. For example, if you wanted to throw a baseball you would simply throw your hand as if you are actually doing it in real life. The gyroscopic nature of the controllers allows this kind of interactive gameplay, something that simply wasn't available in any other game.

There is also a variety of games that are available for the Nintendo Wii that aren't available for other game systems. I know that whenever I used to use my PlayStation all of the time, I had a difficult time finding games that were family-friendly. Yes, there were some that were available out there but they were simply for children, and adults did not usually enjoy playing them much. The Nintendo Wii has a variety of games that are perfect for family and friends, regardless of what age they are. Of course, it also has some games that are specifically for older players which allows a level of gameplay that is not available on the other consoles as well. Perhaps my favorite part about this videogame console is the fact that they keep adding Nintendo Wii accessories for new games that are coming out. For example, they have the Wii wheel, which allows you to hold a small steering wheel to control cars on the screen and the balance board which you would stand on and move the person on the screen by shifting your weight.

It is simply something that you have to experience for yourself in order to truly appreciate it. Be careful, however, once you begin playing it can be difficult to stop.

Nintendo wii is the most exciting game console to come along. Nintendo wii game console offers so much more than simply playing video games, it is an extremely interactive experience. Get actively & phyisically involved while having a blast doing it. wii is the #1 game console world wide, grab yours right now.

DS Cards - The Most Convenient Way to Play Your DS Games

With the emphasis on convenience that handheld systems like the Nintendo DS have, wouldn't it be great to have an even more convenient way to play all your favorite games? DS Cards can provide you with that and much more. These storage devices, which are just as small as regular DS cartridges, can slide right into Slot 1 on your DS. You'll have your entire catalog of games available all on one tiny card.

Various storage capacity sizes are available with DS Cards. Some of these are small enough to fit only a couple of games, while others are large enough to accommodate several games. If you're leaning towards storing as many games as possible, then you'll want to purchase the 16Gbit version. This will give you the space you need for your games, with room left over for additional games you might want to add later on. If you're undecided, you should still get the 16Gbit, so that you won't run the risk of not having enough room for game storage.

DS Cards have the additional advantage of not requiring an external memory system, such as PassMe or FlashMe, to be able to play. You will need a DS Fire Link in order to download the games you want to store and then transfer them over to your card. You can remove the Fire Link once you're done and only have the card itself in your DS in order to play. This convenient setup allows you to carry around only one piece of equipment so you can play, that being the card, instead of having to also bring along additional pieces.

Even if you wind up having a huge list of games on your card, you'll be able to locate the one you want quickly. The touch menu you use with DS cards is very easy and simple to navigate when looking for that one game you're dying to play. This isn't so with some other storage devices, most notably the DSTT. You won't find an alphabetized list of games to go through, and you won't even have an easy browser to use. You're much better off with DS Cards for the ease and convenience they offer.

DS Cards have changed the way people play their DS games. They're no longer limited to only a couple of games when away from home, and they don't have to spend time digging for the game they want at home. Wouldn't you like to have these advantages too so you can also enjoy instant access to all of your favorite games?

Ready to invest in a storage device? For the best deals on DS Cards, head over to http://www.sydneygadgets.com.au right away, where you'll also find the most reliable service available anywhere!

Miniature Paintings - A Sublime Art

The art, culture and lifestyle of ancient and medieval India is best reveled through miniature paintings. The penchant for religion, divinity and regal aristocracy is ostentatiously illustrated in these paintings. Though miniature in form, the paintings had an innate beauty and distinctiveness that made them stand out of the crowd.

Crafted by the regional artists the miniature paintings narrate the stories of the bygone dynasties. Purely a brush work, these vibrant handmade paintings were the outcome of some dazzling minerals and vegetable colors. Gold and silver powders, conch shell powders and tiny pieces of semi precious stones were used in a miniature painting to make for the extra glow. It is for this luminous capacity, meticulousness and the universal appeal the miniature paintings are very popular even today.

The themes of the this class of paintings were generally taken from the scenes of Indian epics and religious books like The Ramayana, The Mahabharata, The Bhagvata Purana, Git-gobinda, Surasagar, Rasamanjiri and more. Images from folk legends, classical music codes and royal court scenes were also beautifully illustrated in the paintings. Glass, fabric, marble, paper, silk, velvet, leather and ivory panels generally served as the canvas for the paintings. Miniature paintings gave birth to some noted school of paintings namely The Deccan Schools, The Rajput and the Mughal Schools.

The Rajput School of Miniature Painting imbibed inspiration from the Krishna legends. The emphasis was more on the man and woman relationship and paintings were aesthetic portrayal of their emotion, love and passion. The lovemaking scenes of Lord Krishna and Goddess Radha are some of the finest specimens of the paintings. The Mughal School of Miniature Painting had Persian influence on them. The painters focused mostly on court scenes, royal portraits, natural scenes and landscapes. The Deccan School of Miniature Painting derived a kind of hybrid painting form blending several styles of painting. The paintings manifested exuberant and bold themes influenced from Turkish and Persian paintings.

Avoid Frustration And Disappointment - Learn To Paint With Good Basic Watercolors!

Recently, I had to admit that a critic could have been right to say that my simple 2 stage learn how to paint watercolors course was too simple...

It was aimed at artist beginners who wanted to learn to paint without having to learn to draw first. This meant that although they may not be too good at drawing, they could still get started painting. Painting landscapes, still-life painting, portraits and mechanical objects can come later.

However, there are 2 reasons to go back to the basics of painting watercolors...

  1. It is a good idea to learn how to paint before painting a Mona Lisa
  2. It is a good idea to go back to first principles when your paintings are going wrong

Occasionally, there are lucky people who don't seem to have any problems learning to paint. They pick up a box of paints and a brush and easily paint their first watercolor painting. This minority of people who don't struggle with painting are fortunate indeed.

On the other hand, most of us aren't blessed with such talents...

  • Truth is that it isn't so easy to learn how to paint watercolor well
  • At times it can seem almost impossible to paint a good watercolor picture

Very soon you can find every brush mark on your painting turning into an awful mess. As you find your watercolor washes flooding uncontrollably, it is easy to create a nightmare of badly blended colors.

All too soon you can turn your great art ideas into a muddy shambles. When you do you are lost. Unless you understand what is happening when watercolor paint flows uncontrollably across the paper, your painting will never get better...

  • You need to see how color moves where the water carries it
  • You need to understand that you will wreck a color wash if you haven't left it to dry before adding the next wash
  • It is a great idea to learn how to get a range of different color intensities and tone from a single color before adding other colors to the mix

There is great sense in the old saying... "Don't try to run before you can walk"

Watercolor painting can rapidly convince you that you have no artistic talent. It can make you look like you have no painting skills. It is a shame to become disheartened when your watercolors go wrong.

So, given the choice, which alternative would you choose?

"Frustration and disappointment... or do you prefer to have a deep understanding of how simple and easy watercolors work in your painting?"

How To Choose A House Plan - Part 1 of 10

House Plans are 2D; Houses are 3D

Does this statement seem a little obvious? Of course it does, and yet it's at the root of the dissatisfaction of the buying and building experience of many house plan purchasers.

The drawings that you see on house plan websites and in plan books aren't well suited to describing the design of the house to you. They're really just marketing diagrams - at a very small scale - that tell you a little bit about how big rooms are and which rooms are next to each other, and not much else.

The Design Process

Architects and home designers are "three-dimensional" thinkers; they draw on paper in two dimensions what they see in their heads in three. Architects can look at a "2D" drawing and accurately imagine what it looks like in "3D" because they do it every day. It's a learned skill and one that you probably don't have (yet!). You've probably said to yourself while you looked at a house plan, "This is so frustrating - I just can't visualize it!"

So why don't home designers prepare drawings that show more about the "third dimension" for consumers? Well, they do - during the design process - you just never get to see them! The design process involves lots of 3D sketches, computer modeling, interior elevation sketches, detail studies, and 3D "massing models". But these are tools for the designer, not information to be presented to you, the consumer (unless you've hired an architect for a custom home design). Once the design is done, the 3D information is coded into the construction drawings to be interpreted by the builder.

Construction Drawings

When a plan service purchases the rights the sell a house plan, they receive a full set of "construction drawings" from the designer. Construction drawings are engineered for use in the field and should contain all the information needed to get a building permit.

But all that detail gets in the way of selling house plans - it clutters up the drawings and it "gives away" too much information; information the plan service doesn't want you to have until you purchase the plans. Some of that information describes the "third dimension" of the spaces in the house.

So house plan services "clean up" the construction drawings; all of the notations and details are stripped out before they're placed in the plan book or on the website. The only part of the house that's represented to you in 3D is the front elevation (that nice color rendering we talked about earlier).

Finding The Hidden 3D

But if you know where to look, there's still some 3D information in the plans - maybe enough to give you an idea of what the spaces are like. Here's how to ferret it out:

Find the "stacked" rooms In a two-story plan, some rooms are going to be "stacked" above others but this isn't always immediately obvious. Find a common "reference point" on both floor plans - a stair is good for this - and look at where the rooms on each floor are located relative to the stair. You should be able to see that some rooms can only be "one-story" spaces, while other are or have the potential to be raised or two-story ceilings.

Compare the plans and the elevation Two-story spaces will often have taller windows, or windows "stacked" above others. They're usually in the larger living spaces - family rooms, living rooms, etc. Sometimes they're next to stairs. Look for these kinds of windows on the elevations and line them up with the rooms they're in on the floor plan.

Look for "ceiling breaks" on the plan Ceiling breaks are places where the flat ceiling intersects with a sloped ceiling or where two sloped ceilings intersect. Ceiling breaks are (or should be) indicated on the plans with a dashed line; usually fairly close to the wall. You'll want to know how tall the ceiling is, how steep the slope of the roof is, and how tall the wall is. Sometimes the elevations will give you a clue if the room with the ceiling break is on an outside wall.

Understand ceiling profile terms The terms for common ceiling shapes aren't common at all. It isn't unusual for different builders in the same market to call the same ceiling profile by several different names. Occasionally, designers will include notes on the plans that describe the ceiling profile and/or height.

Complexity of roof shapes Finally, the exterior of the house can tell you a lot about what the rooms inside are like. Sloped ceilings are sometimes reflected in the slope and shape of the roof. If you can put the roof shape, window height, and ceiling break lines together in the same room, you'll have a great start on understanding the character of the space inside.

The list above is intended as a reference to be used while you're looking at plans. The most important this to remember is this: don't assume that what you're looking at on paper is what you think you see in your head - take the time to find exactly what the "third dimension" of the spaces are before you commit to a design.

Video Converting VCRs

Multi-system VCR

Video standards widely differ with locations. Even in America itself the difference is instantly visible if someone looks at the practices in North America, where, the NTSC is popular where-as, South America, where though NTSC is in use, the more popular ones are PAL-M, PAL-N and PAL. To days complex world environment is also reflected in video standards and we find mixed video standards in most of the countries. The crux of the problem is that these video standards are not compatible with each other. This is exactly the point where multi-system converting VCR steps in, having the ability to play video tapes having different standards.

Multi-system VCR Vs a converting multi-system VCR -

When you opt for a multi-system VCR, you have the ability to play video tapes in any part of the world. But a multi-system VCR, without the converting capabilities added to it, will not convert the video signals. If you have a NTSC television, such a multi-system video will not help in viewing a PAL tape. This is the point where a multi-system converting VCR scores over an ordinary multi-system VCR since it has the ability to convert alien standard signals into system-friendly signals. The same performance can be obtained using an external Tenlab or converter, in case of a multi-system VCR.

Some top brand multi-system VCRs

One bad news for those who are interested for a converting multi-system VCR is that the hitherto most popular Samsung SV-5000W model is no more available as the company has decided to close down the production of this item. There are some other notable VCRs in the market. They include

1. JVC HR S6970 Multi-system S- VHS VCR,

2. Akai VS-X2000EG Multi-system VCR,

3. Hitachi VT-M4080E Multi-system VCR,

4. Sony SLV-ED828 Multi-system VCR,

5. Panasonic NV-SJ530AM Multi-system VCR,

6. Toshiba V-E41 Multi-system VCR, and

7. Sharp VC-AA570 Multi-system VCR

There are many others. But for performance, cost and longevity, these are perhaps the best in the market today.

A few points to ponder while buying a video converting VCR

1. A model akin to the Samsung SV-5000W allows the user to play PAL tapes on a North American NTSC TV, which is not used mostly in North America.

2. Some popular brands like Sony, Hitachi, Toshiba, Panasonic, Sharp, and JVC require the buyer to purchase a converter to enable the users TV to play alien standard video tapes.

3. A PAL/NTSC video converter can be used in the TV instead of going for multi-system TV. This allows playback and conversion system.

4. There are a few models that allow direct conversion of alien standard video tapes on a users TV, the CMD-850 provided by Samsung.

World standards on video tapes requiring a video converting VCR

In general three standards are widely followed world over. These are NTSC, PAL, and SECAM. All other systems followed anywhere and elsewhere are offshoots of these parent systems. The NTSC system was introduced in United States way back in 1953, simultaneously with the coming of the first color TV. While NTSC is used mostly in America, some other countries like Japan also use the same standard. NTSC uses 525 lines frame for running the video. PAL or Phase Alternating Line came in Europe during 1960. France is the only exception using SECAM. SECAM or Sequential Colour with Memory standard also came up along side PAL in the 1960s and uses identical bandwidth and line frames. The only difference between PAL and SECAM is that SECAM transmits colour signals sequentially. This standard is most popular in France. NTSC is not popular outside North America. SECAM is mostly used in those countries which were either under the French dominion during the days of colonialism or its neighbouring countries. PAL is used in South America, most of the Asian and African countries and Europe.

Code Free DVD

Although we are basically discussing about video tapes, these are the days of DVD and no discussion on videos can be complete without a reference to DVD. DVDs also suffer from the same regional standard problems in case of normal Video tapes. A possible solution to this problem is the code-free DVD. The advantage with a code free DVD player is that it can play any DVD from any region in the world. It can play either PAL or NTSC formats. For example, when you obtain a DVD from UK, it will ordinarily be in PAL Format, the accepted format in the region. Here you will require a code free DVD player to play the PAL format DVD on your NTSC TV in America. On the other hand if you obtain the DVD from France, it will be in SECAM format and you again require a code free DVD to enable your NTSC TV to play the DVD obtained. The best part of it is that with a code free DVD system, the requirements of a multi-system TV or a multi-system video converting VCR is done away with. A code free DVD player contains an in-built video converter and no external plug-in accessory is required. Price wise also the model is economical and often comes at a cost around $80-90 only. A good example is a Yamaha model having a 3-way converter, that enables playing and DVD from any part of the world on your TV.

Prices of code free DVDs vary widely with brand and their functioning capabilities, the manufacturer, accessories, etc. Moreover, the separate video converter coming from leading companies like Sony, Panasonic or Pioneer will cost around $300-350, though, on many counts the cost is justifiable and the services offered are excellent. But then again, code free video DVD player like Philips DVP-642/37 and JWIN DVD-501 of Samsung are available within a price range of $70 to $70.

The price tag for video converting VCR

There are quite a number of notable companies in the field competing with each other. This is helping keeping the price within a competitive range for the prospective buyer. The Samsung Hi-Fi multi-system VCR with tape conversion and world wide TV tuner comes at around $390 only, where-as the same manufacturers model, the Samsung HI-FI Multi System VCR Converter & SVHS Playback SV-4000, cost nearly $1090. And a best priced Samsung Multi-system converter VCR will cost around $500. Online buying, of this branded product is still cheaper, available at approximately $250 to $300.

Conclusion

For a common man, academician, businessman, for entertainment, education, training and perhaps for every aspect of life, video has a great influence. A visual is always considering a better media of expression compared to any other means including audio. Video Converting VCRs are here to play an important part for sometime to come.

110-220 Volt Electronics - A multisystem TV is a TV capable of receiving and displaying different video systems like PAL, SECAM and NTSC. You'll be able to operate a multisystem TV in 99% of the world. Their dual voltage design allows them to be plugged into either a 110 voltage source or a 220 voltage source. In some cases, the plug on the television will not fit your country's outlet, so an inexpensive plug-adapter will be needed. They can generally be picked up at an electronics store such as http://www.planetomni.com for $1.95. With a multisystem TV, such as a plasma, CRT tube type, LCD or DLP, you'll likely need a codefree (sometimes called region free) DVD player. These exist in many forms. When used with a PAL-NTSC TV you'll be able to see the full 625 lines of resolution available in the PAL system and the full 525 lines used in the USA NTSC system. There exists a converting type of DVD player which is codefree in that it can read all of the world's 6 regions and both standards, PAL and NTSC. 140,000 other products are available here: http://www.planetomni.com Tel. # 800-514-2984

Closed-Circuit Television - A Deterrent of Crime

While closed-circuit television, or CCTV, has often sparked debate around personal privacy issues, they are often used my some individuals and business owners as a deterrent for crime. It is important to recognize where the system is set up and not crossing the lines of privacy in areas where there should not be monitoring.

Closed-circuit television consists of the use of video cameras that are connected to a specific number of monitors. You can find them in banks, airports, military facilities and rocket launches, streets and retail stores to name a few. They are often placed in areas where there cannot be a constant physical monitoring of a location or event, such as the shuttle launch where it is not safe for people to be there, or along a street where you cannot have an officer patrolling there constantly.

One of the most everyday places that you may see them is outside government buildings, inside retail stores, or maybe you have one in your home for surveillance of your own property. The easiest way to know they are working is not about preventing crime, although some studies suggest they are effective for this, but they are also a great tool for detection and prosecution. They can provide proof that a crime has occurred and who the criminal(s) are that have been caught on tape.

Another great resource for the CCTV system is for safety monitoring. Many companies place the cameras in locations where they can prevent accidents from occurring. You may have seen them at an amusement park near a ride, in the train or subway system, and even in a manufacturing location to monitor equipment. You may even have it in your vehicle to observe objects or people that are not easily visible or are in your blind spot.

Closed-circuit television systems can consist of one single camera to a complex setup with hundreds of cameras, operators to monitor them and digital recorders that can store many hours of surveillance. Maybe you are thinking of one for your home, maybe for a business that you own or maybe one for your neighborhood. Whatever the need, they offer a sense of safety, are efficient and effective in deterring crime, and most importantly, a great way to record criminal activity should you not be able to physically monitor a location all the time.

There are a few buying tips that you may want to consider when setting up your CCTV system that can prevent you from spending money unnecessarily on a system that is either too expensive or does not offer true surveillance.

1. Determine what and where you want to monitor. Maybe you want one in each room of your home, one in each area of your store or along certain points of your street where you live. This will help you buy only a system that you truly need. Be sure to consult the Better Business Bureau, friends, families or colleagues that have purchased the cameras, and other retail stores that have installed them to find a reputable dealer.

2. Decide what the purpose of the CCTV system is for you. Do you want to be able to clearly see faces, merchandise, crowds of people, vehicles or just general monitoring of everyday events?

3. Be sure to choose a picture quality in a monitor that will show you enough detail and quickly capture movement. Lower resolution and slower frame rates to capture movement can result in jerkier images while higher resolution CCTV cameras and recorders offer more detail and smoother flow of movement. Make sure that you have purchased a recorder that monitors long enough for you to replace the recording tape to offer continuous monitoring.

4. Use signs to let people know that you are using surveillance equipment. This can be a great deterrent of criminal behavior.

Closed circuit television has been shown to be an effective deterrent to criminal activity. Protecting your property with this state-of-the-art technology is a significant step to preventing thieves from taking advantage of you.

Closed-circuit television, CCTV, offers retail stores and personal properties a strong deterrent to crime. Shortage Control, Inc. offers numerous options and products to design a system to fit your needs. Visit us at http://www.scvideo.com to start defending yourself today.

The Fascinating History Of Backgammon

Backgammon has a long fascinating history of more than 5000 years, making it one of the oldest games in civilization. The earliest backgammon board, from an early version of the game, was found circa 3000 B.C. in the royal cemetery in Ur of the Chaldees in southern Mesopotamia(now called Iraq), the birthplace of Abraham.

The game has been played around the world and throughout recorded history. A form of the game was enjoyed by the Egyptian Pharoahs; boards dating from 1500 B.C. were found in King Tut's tomb. Wall paintingsin many Egyptian tombs portray people playing the game, indicating that it was played by the common people as well as the Pharaohs. A thousand years later, the Greeks were playing a form of the game. Homer, Sophocles, and Plato mention the game in their works. In Rome, the game long remained one of the most popular among the patricians. Emperor Claudius reportedly wrote a book on backgammon.

The excavators of Pompeii found a backgammon table in the courtyard of almost every villa. Various early versions of the game were popular in Britain, dating from the Crusades. It has always been a favourite game of the English. It is believed that the current form of the game evolved in the tenth century. Backgammon has been played in the United States since the seventeenth century.

However, the doubling cube was only introduced to the game in the early 1920s by an anonymous genius. This greatly enhanced the quality of backgammon and increased its popularity in the United States. The game had another surge of interest in the 1970s, but has waned in popularity in recent years due primarily to the advent of video and computer games.

When backgammon is played with the right people and strategy, it can be a very fascinating and addictive game for everybody. Hopefully, interest in this ancient game will increase in the near future. Perhaps, if more people discover the real game of backgammon, it will regain the popularity that it deserves.

Plasma Or LCD? - A Comprehensive Review

When we talk about the size, plasma TVs would earn points. At present, they are larger but it is still important to note that LCDs are close behind and size difference varies only by a few inches. LCD TVs are now catching up and have introduced their 63 inch units. Panasonic had even produced a 103-inch television but unfortunately it has not been introduced for consumer use.

When we talk about viewing angles, LCD TVs earn the points. But then again, their difference can be very little and can be considered immaterial. Plasma televisions have up to 160 degrees viewing angle while LCD televisions have up to 175 degrees viewing angles.

Another point of comparison is screen refresh rates. Both television styles vary slightly in the screen refresh rate. Plasma screen technology displays refresh and controls rapid movements in video similar to the cathode ray tube type of television. LCDs, on the other hand, have an improved refresh rate because the screen technology is designed for data display.

When weight is of the matter, LCDs are comparatively lighter, more portable, and less expensive to ship. LCDs are observed to be less fragile and have a more durable screen than the plasma TV. Plasma TVs are known to be very fragile and are quite hard to ship. Likewise, installation for Plasma TVs should be administered by a professional. This is not the case for the LCD TV.

However, product lifespan may be hard to compare. Plasma TVs usually have half the lifespan of an LCD TV, which is 30,000 to 60,000 hours. The traditional CRT television has a reported half life of 25,000 hours. Therefore, comparing them in this category may clearly define who the winner is.

Discounts from 35%-65% on all Plasma and LCD TV. Top offer this month is a 50 Inch SAMSUNG Plasma HDTV.

Board Games That Can Be Customized

Everyone loves a good board game, one that brings back memories and nostalgia of the fun times spent playing them. These games are often used during quality time spent with family and friends and because of these, games can often hold a special place in the hearts of many. However, not many people realize that they can take this love of board games a step further and make one that has a more personal meaning. There are a number of kits available to the consumer which allows them to take the base of an already existing board game and adapt it to make it personal. These games are usually not that expensive and don't often require much other than a little creativity to make a novelty that everyone will come to cherish.

One of the easiest adaptable and most popular customizable board games is a take off of Monopoly. Coming in a kit called Make-Your-Own-Opoly, this set allows players the chance to form a board based on a traditional Monopoly board, using only what the player themselves design. The set comes with a CD-ROM which gives the consumer all of the software needed to fully craft the cards needed for the game, along with the templates onto which these cards can be printed through a personal computer. The game does feature some differences, however, from the original version of Monopoly. Houses and hotels are not featured within game play, nor are railroads. The names of other features have been changed, such as Chance and Community Chest cards. These are now known as "Good News" or "Bad News." Jail is now called "Fate" and "Free Parking" is "Roll Again." These little differences aren't enough to get in the way of a heavily enjoyable game, however, and the novelty of owning a game that a player designed themselves is enough to overcome any drawbacks that the few missing elements would have provided.

Citizens of the United Kingdom, however, have the opportunity to purchase their own official edition of Monopoly called "My Monopoly." By operating through the official website, interested consumers can order their own edition that is customized right on the website. They have the opportunity to personalize all of the property spaces and the Chance and Community Chest cards. The rest of the board is the standard version of the game, but with an official seal, this personalized board game can become a great family heirloom.

The Game of Life also has an adaptation which can be personalized with little trouble. Often featured with weddings, graduations, and reunions, the game is often customized by all of the visitors to an event. Each visitor often crafts out one particular memory of the person or family being celebrated, which later becomes a space on the board. After all the visitors have left their particular memories, the board is designed, becoming fully playable on the second event. This version of the game is extremely well received, allowing people to make a very entertaining version of a keepsake, one that can be enjoyed over and over again, instead of simply sitting on a shelf somewhere. Fully interactive games are a great way to entertain and delight loved ones, and customizable board games are a unique way to do so.

Building An EBay Niche Store

So What is BANS?

BANS means Build a Niche Store, in fact it is a website builder which creates an eBay Network in your website focusing around eBay Affiliate and Partner Networks.

You simply choose the popular niche, build your niche store, promote and make money. Its as simple as swallowing a melting chocolate. Just repeat the steps of driving traffic, your Bank will be filled with unheard money. The power of BANS makes you get addicted for using this system.

The BANS and eBay Combination

BANS currently supports 12 eBay Networks covering Austria, Australia, Belgium, Canada, Spain, France, India, Italy, Netherlands, Singapore, United Kingdom, and United States and they hold a combined product inventory of over 60 million products.

So How does this Work?

It just revolves around a 5 step system to build a completely keyword rich eBay Stores in your website.

Step1: Choose Your Country

Your country of choice will determine which specific eBay marketplace products you will be marketing.

If you choose eBay.com then you will be creating niche websites focused around eBay.com listed products and will then be marketing them to online shoppers in the United States.

If you choose the another country as supported by BANS you will be doing the same for that selected country marketplace and that country based shoppers and so forth.

Step2: Choose Your Niche

With your target country chosen you then install BANS and once installed your first choice inside your new BANS admin panel is the niche you want to target.

If you choose the Wii related category BANS will build a Wii related eBay affiliate store, the golf category then a golf eBay affiliate store.

Straight out of the box your store will:

1. Contain all of those products listed on eBay relevant to your chosen niche.

2. Contain a sub-category navigation based on eBay's hierarchical category structure.

3. Have all the search features of the eBay marketplace.

4. Have your eBay affiliate id embedded into each of the external product links to eBay.

5. Be completely SEO friendly.

Stage 2 is complete...

Step 3:
Develop Your New Website To "Match Your Market"

With your basic store built next comes development...

BANS is a complete content management system with the development features to match any professional website builder.

The aim with this development stage is to "match your market" which means - make it feel like it's related to your target niche (through design) and add width and depth to it through the Store Page and Content Page features.

With a little bit of time spent inside your BANS admin panel you can transform your straight out of the box store into one which is themed to your niche and has store pages which target keywords that your market is actually using to find the products listed in your store.

Once you get into content creation you can add as many new pages to your site as you are willing to write or get written. As with any website or blog, every new page you add targets more keywords in the search engines which means more targeted traffic and more eBay affiliate commissions.

Again all of this development is done online and whilst logged into your BANS admin panel.

Step 4: Market Your Website To Your Target Niche

Once you're "happy" with your new niche store it's time to turn your attention towards marketing.

If you've targeted golf then you want to attract golfers interested in purchasing specific pieces of golf equipment, if it's a used motorcycle store that you've built then you're looking for those people who are about to buy a new bike.

By following a basic set of marketing principles including content creation, SEO, article marketing, forum marketing, Squidoo lenses, social bookmarking, link building, USFreeads and PPC you will soon be finding buyers for the products you have chosen to market and will be making a steady supply of eBay affiliate commissions. (Please note that there are a growing number of threads in our member forum that discuss these strategies).

At this stage you can then choose to spend some more time developing your niche store (particularly adding more content pages), pursue a more aggressive marketing strategy, or...

Step 5: Begin Building Your eBay Affiliate Empire

Once you have familiarized yourself with the software and have built, developed and marketed your first site you will have a good understanding of how the system works.

You can then begin adding to your niche store portfolio by building new stores to target new niche markets.

If you commit to the project, take action and use our member forum as a support structure for your development you will soon find yourself with your own growing portfolio of eBay affiliate websites which are successfully funnelling buyers through to eBay and adding a nice monthly income to your bank account!

There are no pre-set limits as to the depth of each store that you create or the width of your entire portfolio...you get back what you put in...and with a product inventory of over 60 million products to market there are more opportunities than it will ever be possible to target.

Conclusion

Choose your country, choose your niche, develop your site, market your site, rinse and repeat! To reap profits without selling anything at eBay

If you follow this system you will find that BANS is the perfect platform for building up a new and long term income from the internet.

As a Newbie, I built an US Hi-Tech eBay Affiliate Store at Ad and Auctions related to products ranging from the popular niches, namely, wii, apple iphone, ipod touch, digital cameras targetting US Based Customers who can visit my site for a free and easy navigation to locate their products of interests at eBay.com instead of searching the entire eBay.

Are You Interested in Some Cheap Games and Accessories For Your PSP?

The PlayStation Portable or PSP has been one of my favorite Sony consoles as of yet. You get all the fantastically fun aspects of the PlayStation but you can carry it around with you wherever you go. Can you do that with your regular console? I think not! This handheld console isn't like the rest of the ones out there either, this one is really special! For example did you know the PSP is the first handheld video game console to use an optical disc format and universal media disc, as its primary storage media. Other popular features of the console include its large screen incredibly robust multi-media capabilities, and on top of that connectivity with the PSP3, other PSPs, and the Internet! Pretty cool, huh?

Whats even cooler is that there are some really nice places online that offer games and accessories for really superb prices. These websites were specifically made to allow people like you to buy the best PSP games and accessories for half the amount that you would in a regular store. But hey, cheap in price doesn't mean cheap in quality. These sites are just like any other gaming store on or offline, they offer all the same games, and accessories including skins, covers and themes. Just recently, I found one in particular that had by far, the best prices on PSPs and all the top PSP games I have seen anywhere yet! This is not only good news for you if you have a PSP and want some cool games and accessories, but its also great for people that want a PSP and for friends or parents that want to get someone a PSP or some games but don't want to have to pay an arm and a leg for one. These guys can get quite expensive in the regular brand name stores, believe me because I made the mistake of buying mine at EB Games and it was a few hundred bucks!

Now looking on these cooler discount sites I see I could have bought a brand new PSP for around 120 pounds. That to me, is pretty upsetting considering mine cost twice as much as that. And the games are inexpensive too, as said above. At a regular store you are looking at about 30-40 pounds per game on the gaming sites, and a quivering 15-25 pounds on these discount UK sites. That is just amazing! If you want to save yourself some serious money, I suggest you take a good hard long look at these UK based discount websites! You are seriously going to get more bang for your buck!

Check out these handhelds as well from other companies!

What Are Prescription Sunglasses For

People who have eyesight problems and those who need to wear glasses for reading still need to wear sunglasses when going outdoors on a sunny day. Wearing ordinary reading glasses or prescription lenses is not enough to protect a person from the ultraviolet rays of the sun. To provide for the needs of people who have eye problems but are keen to explore the outdoors during bright, sunny days, a number of brands of prescription sunglasses have been introduced by manufacturers.

Prescription sunglasses are a much better option than carrying clip-ons that had to be attached to ordinary prescription glasses when the wearer has to be in a bright, sunny spot. For one, they would be lighter to carry and the owner does not have to look for these extra pieces whenever the need to use them arises. Technology has also helped enhanced the way these sunglasses are designed that they are now available even for presbyopic people. Bifocal and progressive lens types are also available and most of them can be used for basic and high prescription needs.

Some sunglasses are designed as photochromic eyepieces. Photochromic glasses have the ability to darken in sunny conditions and revert to a lighter shade when the wearer moves indoors. Some experts have warned, though, that photochromic lenses are not as effective in blocking UV rays as some sunglasses that are particularly designed for this purpose. In general, it is much better to ask an eye expert for advice or have the lenses assessed in terms of the amount of UV light that can pass through them.

Most prescription eyepieces are designed just like ordinary sunglasses and a lot of the fashion and designer brand sunglasses of today can carry prescription lenses. A number of wraparound sunglasses, though, are not compatible with prescription lenses and their severely curved wraps sometimes cause vision distortion. Some of the brands that offer sunglasses that can carry prescription lenses include Bolle, Oakley, Live Eyewear, Izod and Panoptx.

In terms of colors, sunglasses with brown shades are much more preferable than other colors. Brown is considered the best color for sunglasses since it provides the wearer with the widest light spectrum and is also known to block blue light effectively and offer optimum contrast. Gray, on the other hand, is best for bright environments, particularly if the wearer is going to the beach where the brightness of the sun's rays is magnified by the water.

For people who have eye conditions, prescription sunglasses are a necessity when they need to go outdoors particularly in bright, sunny conditions. Consumers who are looking for such sunglasses need not worry about options since a vast array of brands and models are already available in the market.

Free Digital Tools For Product Design Students

The study of product and industrial design can be quite expensive. You have loads of things and equipments to buy. Tools such as drawing pencils, markers, stencils, sketch papers are things that you will need to buy.

In certain schools the pressure is also strong for students to get expensive equipments such as Digital SLR (Single Lens Reflex) cameras.

As you can see, design education can be pretty costly. Unless, you are very rich, you can save some money by using free alternatives to some expensive software programs.

Below are a list of useful yet free software programs that a product and industrial design student can use:

1. Inkscape. This software is a 2D vector drawing program. It can be used to produce 2D product illustrations.

2. Blender 3D. This is a free 3D rendering and animation program. It is surprisingly power for something that is free. Its inbuilt rendering engine is good enough to produce attractive 3D product renderings.

3. Yafray. Yafray is a free raytracing program. It is fully able to produce stunning and photo realistic renderings. It is a high quality Global Illumination rendering program. To use Yafray, you should have Blender 3D as well. This is because Yafray can be used from within Blender 3d as an optional rendering engine.

4. Indigo renderer. This is also a very high quality rendering software. The disadvantage of using it is that it is very slow to render. As such, you are advised to have a fast computer with lots of RAM in order to use it decently.

5. GIMP. Gimp is a free alternative to the Photoshop. You can use it to do much photo and image editing works.

6. Open Office. This is a free alternative to MS office.

Well, these are some of the free programs that a budget conscious product design student can use. Thank you for reading.

LCD TV is a Guaranteed Long-Time Provider - How Long Does Your Television Last?

We keep on encountering the acronym LCD. What does it really stands for? LCD actually means Liquid Crystal Display. It had been years already when LCD TVs became as famous as it is now and undoubtedly, the reason behind its fame is the fact that it has impeccable clearness and seamless picture. More often than not, LCD live in a longer duration than plasma TVs. However, such fact does not signify that LCD televisions do not, in any way, suffer deterioration similar to other types of electronic devices. Basically, they operate depending on the crystal's manner of twisting and untwisting.

LCD Televisions, typically, survives for an approximate duration of 60,000 hours. But several manufacturers assert their own LCD TVs remain operational for 80,000 hours at most, provided that the viewing technology's use be guided by controlled conditions including the temperature of the room, some other climatic conditions, the preservation conditions, and others. It is inevitable that the display effect of LCD Televisions would diminish as time goes by. This is for the reason that frequently, they are being brightened up by means of strong lights that is susceptible of darkening which is also true to other electronic devices, during a particular duration. Consequently, the picture in turn darkens as time travels. That's why the paramount thing to regard in an LCD Television is its LCD light source's lifespan. Hence, it is necessary that the resource of the LCD TV light should have with it a fine warranty as it is the primary thing that regulates the picture upshots and precision.

LCD TV appears so attractive because of its perfect white balance. Hence, to preserve such fascinating quality, it is important that the quality of the above-mentioned light source should in turn be maintained. More importantly, the back lighting bulb must be absolutely of superior quality to ensure longer duration of your television. Accordingly, branded televisions are more commendable of being paid for as it provides exchange or maintenance warranty, it being inexistent as in the case of cheap LCD TVs. The contrast levels, also, must be paid close attention because, the higher the contrast level, the quicker the TV will deteriorate. On the other hand, when the surrounding light levels are lower, the lengthier the light source will live.

Various Sharp LCD TVs make available different units comprised with the light source. On the other hand, others have with them the light source positioned alongside the other units and for this reason, when the light source is exposed, the entire LCD TV turns into a squander. The main significant thing to be regarded here and at all times to be kept in mind is the guarantee of the back light. Disparate from the other sorts of television, the LCD Televisions cannot be utilized for the entire duration which is a consequence of its restricted life span. The shafts of light are the most important source employed in the functioning of an LCD TV. Once matched up to the plasma television, shorter lifetime shall be experienced by LCD TVs and the preservation of the device is likewise uncomplicated when judged against regular televisions.

Outsourcing Software - Go For IT!

Without the outsourcing of their software development, there are many international conglomerates which would be facing dwindling profits and angry shareholders. All the software giants, including Microsoft, Oracle, IBM, and Dell have taken to outsourcing software development in a big way, and their favorite outsourcing partners are Indian companies. Wipro, TCS, and Infosys are recognized as IT companies perfectly capable of handling the outsourcing needs of the big software players on the other side of the globe.

Outsourcing Software Needs To India

In the early days of outsourcing, the typical outsourced business project was a non-core operation which was deemed too insignificant to be done by highly paid in-house employees. There were many Indian companies happy to take on these outsourced jobs, but as the Indian workforce became more and more versed in IT management, the Fortune 500 companies bagan to see them in a new light.

Today more than half of the Fortune 500 companies turn to Indian IT firms like TCS and Wipro to design, alter, and maintain their IT systems, and the Indian IT companies have seen their balance sheets and market capitalizations reflect the results. With over two billion dollars in annual revenues, and a market cap exceeding twenty billion dollars, the Indian companies are now in the same league as Adobe and Accenture.

Small Businesses Can Outsource Software Needs As Well

But outsourcing software needs is not limited to the mega-software companies; today there are hundreds of smaller businesses looking at outsourcing as an attractive alternative in their struggle to decrease their expenses and get technological input which their in-house staff might not be capable of providing. When outsourcing their software needs, these companies can choose to turn some, or all of them over to developers in other parts of the world, and may outsource different parts of the same software project to different IT service providers.

Business process outsourcing; software development outsourcing; knowledge process outsourcing; all are IT outsourcing projects which, while they can be done by a companys onsite employees, are simply less expensive when turned over to qualified IT workers in countries with lower wage structures and taxes.

The market for software is going to continue to expand, and software development is the future of the IT industry. Outsourcing software development to proven IT companies in developing countries like India whose workers have established themselves as the equal of any IT workers in the world will keep software development costs low, and the prices of the most advanced software within the reach of the businesses which continue to depend on it.

Holiday Greeting Cards - How to Create Your Own Photographic Greeting Cards

Here are some tips for creating great holiday greeting cards.

1. Pick an Interesting Theme. If you're doing a family shot, think up something creative. The setting does not need to be winter or holiday themed. In fact if it is non-seasonal, your recipients may keep your card out for more than just the winter season.

2. Use Existing Images. If you had a great holiday trip, consider using one of those images. If you have some good photos of the kids around the house, use them.

3. Get Outdoors. Often, lighting is better outside. Find a good scenic location and compose the image. Then grab someone nearby and ask them to shoot. Almost anyone will step in to help. Or, prop that camera, set the timer and run! Sometimes the timer-race photos are quite funny.

4. Get Exposed. Consider forcing the flash on your camera to fill in some highlights around the eyes. Most cameras have the opportunity to do this. Just a touch of flash will remove shadows or bags under the eyes, and will not appear artificial if used lightly.

5. Edit for Impact. Crop, level and edit your image carefully so the important stuff is left for your viewers to enjoy. Consider some interesting edits such as watercolor finish, sepia, softening, and other effects to create the desired mood on your images.

6. Choose a good printer. Flat glossy cards are inexpensive and easily made, but to really wow your friends, consider using a professional card printing service to make coated, folded cards. The quality of many online labs is first-rate. Expect to spend $1-2 for small runs of cards made this way. Larger quantities may cost less per unit. Try web searching for "holiday cards".

7. Don't Break the Law. If you are considering using a professionally made photograph, remember that you cannot use anyone else's images on your card without their permission. Even if you bought a print, you don't have the right to scan, copy or otherwise use a professional image.

Designing your own holiday cards is a great way to develop your photography, editing, design and computer skills. Have fun creating your cards!

What is High Dynamic Range?

Technology and digital photography go hand in hand. Any new advancements are rapidly distributed to users of both high and low end cameras and equipment. Any photographer knows, however, that sacrifices are made by using a new technology or approach to taking pictures. For example, not all printers are able to accurately match the colors captured in a digital photograph, or to reproduce it with the exact sharpness of the camera.

Today, however the entire photographic industry is working to create a range of products and equipment compatible with High Dynamic Range photography. What is High Dynamic Range? Put simply it is an advanced method of recording images, which documents as much detail in areas of deep shadow as those in bright light. With HDR a true photographic reproduction of any image or scene may be possible.

Currently, a camera records an image, either to a memory card or film medium. The image is processed across electronic platforms or in a laboratory, edited if necessary and then printed on photographic paper. Unfortunately, the technologies at work are not always equal to one another and any inferior part of the process will affect the entire photographic system.

HDR will work in this way as well, affecting cameras and memory as well as printing processes and software applications. Currently digital images are saved in either the JPEG or GIF formats, and neither presents enough range for an HDR image because instead of a color range of 0-255, HDR climbs into the millions. This means that 8-bit technology will require an expansion to 16-bit in order to accommodate the enormous color range and file size of HDR. Additionally, storage mediums such as CDs will require significantly larger capacities to work with HDR.

Many traditional software programs are all ready increasing their abilities to manipulate and interact efficiently and effectively in HDR images, but it is up to monitor and computer screen manufacturers to be sure their products are able to display the range of colors in HDR images. In addition to advanced displays, printers will also need to be enhanced to allow for the amazingly clear and brilliant images recordable with a HDR camera.

At this point in time HDR equipment is not widely available, but most of the major photographic and computer manufacturers are working to develop products and tools that will allow for the capture, storage, editing and production of high dynamic range images within the next decade. It is unclear if they will identify HDR as a separate technology, or if it will be integrated throughout the market of available goods. Either way, it will serve as an exciting new way in which to make photographs.
